Midnight Ruffles Leaf Lettuce Seed Organic
These Midnight Ruffles Leaf Lettuce seeds are certified organic and open pollinated. (48 days). This new variety from an Oregon breeder is the deepest red lettuce we have seen, almost a maroon purple-black. The leafy plant is full in the center with serrated leaf edges, blistered leaves, and red midrib and veins. This red-leaf summer lettuce with sweetness, buttery crunch, and no bitter aftertaste, grown to full head size, its deep burgundy leaves and veins and handsome contrasting white ribs undulate with ruffled edges, forming an open loose mid-sized head 11" across. This frilly sweet red held out against BOR and bolting until July 20. About 300+ seeds per pack. 83% germination.
Lettuce Culture: May be started indoors in March and at regular intervals thereafter, or sowed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked.
