Our Mrs Burns Lemon Basil Seed is open pollinated. (64 days) Chosen for its intense lemony fragrance. Medium-sized bright green leaves. Heirloom variety grown for 60 years in southeastern New Mexico, first offered commercially by Native Seeds/Search, has now achieved nationwide fame.(O. basilicum) Grown since the 1920s by Mrs. Clifton of Carlsbad, New Mexico. In the 1950s she gave it to Janet Burns, mother of Barney Burns, a Native Seeds/SEARCH founder. Intense citrus aroma, popular for vinegar and seafood dishes. Plants are 12-18" tall with a neat habit, small green leaves, and white flowers. Dries nicely. The finest strain of lemon basil available. Packs a delightful punch in Pesto recipes.
