Oscarde Cutting Lettuce Seed Organic
These Oscarde Cutting lettuce seed are certified organic and open pollinated. (30 days baby, 45 days mature) This lettuce is an industry standard. A beautiful mini oakleaf that grows low to the ground. Its red leaves shade to bright green at their hearts. These are perfect for greenhouse or tunnel cloches in cold weather. Always doing well in good conditions outdoors in spring and fall. You can cut it for a mesclun mix or baby leaf. When GTF’s Jolene was told that Oscarde (her dead favorite darkest red oak) was set to be terminated from commerce, she took on her first personal quest to save a part of her genetic experience. She used the last of her seed to grow our planting stock, and fended off deer for two years to bring this seed crop to market. Resists most races of DM. About 300+ seed per pack. Packed for 2017. Lot #391. 97% germination.
Lettuce Culture: May be started indoors in March and at regular intervals thereafter, or sowed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked. Hardy. All lettuces except icebergs tolerate heavy frost. They grow best in cool weather with medium moisture. Use shade cloth to keep summer lettuce tender and sweet longer.
Sow every 2 weeks for continuous supply. Lettuce will not head unless thinned frequently and ruthlessly to final distance of 1'. Heavy nitrogen feeders.
